“Those who followed the Buddha came to be called the Sangha—the community of monks (bhikkhus) and nuns (bhikkhunis).”

For some, the Sangha is the whole community of the Buddha’s followers. From the beginning, the Buddha’s disciples included laypeople who followed the Buddha’s teachings but remained householders.
To promote the spread of Buddhism in India.To hold gatherings and conferences of the Buddhists of India for common action and to establish fellowship.
To establish schools, colleges, library and other institution for religious and scientific subject.To establish orphanages, hospitals and relief centers.

Aims and Objectives of the Society

The Objectives of the Sangha shall be:
  1. (1) To promote the spread of Buddhism in India.
  2. (2) To establish temples for Buddhist worship.
  3. (3) To establish schools, colleges, library and other institution for religious and scientific subject.
  4. (4) To establish orphanages, hospitals and relief centers.
  5. (5) To start Buddhist Seminaries for the preparation of workers for the spread of Buddhism.
  6. (6) To undertake publication of Buddhist literature and to issue leaflets and pamphlets for giving a true understanding of the Buddhist religion to the common mass.
  7. (7) To create new order of priests, if it becomes necessary to do so.
  8. (8) To establish a press or presses for the purpose of carrying on the work of publication.
  9. (9) To hold gatherings and conferences of the Buddhists of India for common action and to establish fellowship.
  10. (10) To undertake all such lawful activities as conducive to the attainment of the above objectives.
